The Last Day of The Rhythm Club

You can see my “gallery” on the walls of The Rhythm Club. I used to go there for years to enjoy the people who are in the photos on the walls. All of them were musicians and they would night and day when they were not playing music. To find the photography of the walls, go to The Rhythm Club.

I WANT TO FLY

In 2009, I took a group of five children from Harlem to a summer camp in Canada. The trip was completely funded by the generous Victoria Thierrée Chaplin, daughter of Charlie Chaplin. I’m thankful to Victoria from my heart for what she did for them. Aurelia Thierrée, a great friend and granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin, initiated the entire story and gave me the money to make my dream a reality.

One of the children wrote me this after many years, "Thank you again Martine, yes I remember going to camp, those was lovely days when we was growing up. A chance to get out of the hood and relax. Give us a positive future something to look forward to growing up and staying strong."- Charles

Very often when I meet them, they tell me about how happy they were to go on the plane. The pilot was very kind and let them be in the front with him. Now, each one has the movie on their phones and are proud to show it to their friends.
